Hello,

I am using ScanFont and TypeTool to bring images into a font file.  These images are then used with a CNC router ( woodworking tool ) so I'm probably not your typical user of the mentioned software packages so I'm not real familiar with font software.. Here is the problem I am having at the moment

There is an image I brought into ScanFont5 and then had it exported out to TypeTool3.  This worked fine.  Once in TypeTool the glyph looked fine and there didn't seem to be any issues.  I then chose the "generate font" option from the File menu and placed the Font Family onto my desktop.  From there I used the pre-installed Font Book ( Mac OS 10.4.11 ) to install the font on my system and upon viewing the font there was a couple of areas on that particular glyph which were completely black.

There are two files on my idisk server which show both the glyph as seen within TypeTool3 ( TypeToolGlyph.tiff ), prior to saving into a font file and then the same glyph as seen once exported to a font file ( InstalledFont.tiff ).  Something is going wrong on the export and I can't figure out what it is.

I should mention that this has happened to me before but using Sigmaker.  I assumed it was because these are complicated images I am importing as a glyph and the tracing functions of that program weren't capable of handling the complexities.  Another thing I should mention is that the other glyphs you will see in the "InstalledFont.tiff" image were all created using ScanFont and TypeTool so the process I used above has worked on those occasions.

I didn't post the original file which I imported into ScanFont but I can post that if someone thinks the trouble could lie there.  Don't forget though,  that the image was traced by ScanFont and sent to TypeTool with no apparent problems so I think it's something going wrong during the font generation process..

The files are located here: http://files.me.com/johngowrie/bjnwj3
Please, any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks
John

In the event a new user has the same issue I had,  I am posting the fix that Alex from tech support sent to me via email.

Select all contours CMD A
then choose CONTOUR - > Paths - > Set TT direction.

Somewhere in my problems areas there must have been a problem with the direction of the contours and following the above procedure set them all in the same direction and fixed the problem.

Yes, and if you would have to export in Type 1 format then you should choose CONTOUR - > Paths - > Set Type 1 direction.
