I am using the paintbrush tool to create each glyph within TypeTool. Each character is based off the same grid, naturally, and so I expected to see the guidelines carry-over from one glyph pane to the next. Is there a way to make global guidelines? I have searched the manual and the forums... My conclusion is: a) it can't be done in TypeTool, or b) the answer is so obvious and simple that no one has ever had this problem before.
If a) then dang. If b) then I apologize for the idiocy but would appreciate being pointed in the right direction.

Thanks.

To add a new guideline:
1....
2... (last sentence) Hold down the SHIFT key to add the global guideline!!!

I must have read that page 10 times before I slowed down enough to see that last sentence. So, problem solved.
FYI - local (per glyph) guides are blue, global guides are red
