I'm a newbie to TypeTool, so maybe there's something very basic i'm s***ing up...?

I created a new font, and drew a bunch of characters (not a full set -- only need a subset for current project).  Some glyphs were based on glyphs copy and pasted from other fonts, then modified. I followed the steps in the manual in the "Generating Fonts" section, to create a Win TrueType/OpenType TT, saved to my desktop, then used FontBook to install the font.  But, when I try to apply the font to characters in FinalCut/LiveType, it crashes LiveType.  It also crashes MS Word.  In TextEdit, some characters dissappear, and others show, but with a substituted font (switching fonts makes characters reappear).  In all cases I have only used characters that I created in my new font.

I've tried removing the font and reinstalling, restarting all apps, re-booting, etc., w/ no luck.  FontBook claims the font is OK when I ask it to validate the font.  I don't know where to go from here, so any help appreciated -- project needs to be completed by end of the week...

I think you should ask for the support with your font attached: http://www.fontlab.com/support/problem/

Choosing a different rasterized might solve this problem (this option exists in FontLab, not sure wether this exists in TypeTool). Try switching between FreeType, Adobe and Mac OS rasterizer. No guarantees.

Good luck.
