I'm creating some fonts in Type tool but there are only about four ligatures. How can I add one myself?

Thanks

To add your own custom ligatures you need to add "liga" OpenType feature which is not possible in TypeTool. You will need Fontlab Studio or a tool for adding OT features (like MS VOLT).

Thanks,

Do you think it will take me long to get used to fontlab studio?
I'm only twelve so it would be a risky investment if its to complicated for me.
I like design but to be honest I'm not exactly an expert when it's about type.

If you are comfortable with TypeTool you will learn Fontlab Studio easily. But I am not sure you should invest right now just to add more ligatures.

Leslie Cabarga's: Learn Fontlab Fast and Logo, Font and Lettering Bible will aid you. Both are very good.

You can actually make your own ligatures in any of the blank glyph windows, (the grey ones named '...') and then name them in the Glyph Properties pannel. They will be in your font, but only accessible in programs where you can access the glyphs (like Illustrator CS3/CS4 and Indesign).
