I can pull in my logo but it always ends up in black and white as the font is there any way to keep the colors?

Hello,

no i think that's imposibble in normal TrueType, OpenType or PS/Type1 font, because the information inside those font can only be 1-bit black & white + contour + metrics etc. But not color.

The only way is to create several contours that will be colored and stacked on top of each other. So you can assign "red" layer to 'C', green layer to 'B' and bottom black layer to 'A'. 'A' will have normal metrics while B and C will have zero character width and entire picture shifted to left so it will be on top of previous layer. In DTP app you type ABC using some normal font, apply colors to B and C and then change font to your "logo font". It will appear colored.

There is no such thing as color in a TTF. You might want to check into our Photofont product at:

http://www.fontlab.com/photofont/start/
