Is there a way to write the so-called Patah furtivum (i.e., patah under het or ayin at the end of the word, written in manuscripts normally not exactly under the consonant but a little shifted to the right, to make clear that it is pronounce before the het/ayin)? I cannot find the way to do this.
It would be nice if it were automatic, like the tale of the ayin that changes when you type a vowel.

The furtive patah is automatically handled in the SBL Hebrew font layout intelligence. The furtive patah is encoded using the regular patah characters (U+05B7) and, like all combining marks, is encoded after the base character to which it applies. Contextual layout intelligence in the font then positions the patah to the right side of the base letter if it is a guttural in a final position.

If this is not working for you, it may be a software limitation, or you may have a very early version of the font. What software are you using and under what operating system (please specify version numbers)? Make sure you have the current release version of the font, which is v1.51.

I've not been able to get the Patah furtivum to work either. I am using the latest version of the font in Mellel.

What are the sequences of characters for the words in which you are trying unsuccessfully to get furtuve patah to display? The contextual rules in the font are very precise, based on review of a number of Hebrew grammars, and the preceding contexts have to match exactly in order to trigger the furtive patah behaviour.

As a test, try pasting this sequence into your word processing software:

אֱל֣וֹהַ

This is a word that definitely displays correctly with furtive patah in my font test environments.

Upon further review of my settings in Mellel, I discovered that while OpenType features are supported by Mellel, Mellel must also be supported by an equally capable user...

Note to self: Don't forget to turn ON "contextual alternates" in the OpenType dropdown menu.

Thanks for your help—and thank you for the font(s)!
