Is there anything out there like a word list or letter pair list that can be opened up in Indesign and used to check your spacing and kerning?

Most people just put together a test file by search and replace.  The ready-made ones like Leslie Carbagga's are not broad enough to do the job.
What I did was select all glyphs in FontLab and paste the results into a text reader.  FontLab places a slash between each glyph.  This makes it very convenient to search and replace the slash for any given glyph name.
I found it best to first use the key glyphs from your kerning groups that you defined in classes.  Then, search and replace the slash in this group of glyphs for each of the members of the key glyphs.  I personally use a spreadsheet to create lists with tabs between and then copydown/fill down/across other sets. This gives you a quick way to make test files. Save the file as tab delimitated text

You also need to create a set of "problem children"glyphs to test everything from f, k, v, y, etc. to dcaron, lslash, ldot, idieresis, etc.  Thekey glyph list depends upon your font'sstructure but many are reusable so once you've made  the mix, you can use it for many other fonts
