Does anyone know how to give a custom icon to the font file that can be seen on one's desktop? I'm on a mac and know how to change it through there, but it doesn't hold when e-mailed out.

As far as I can tell, this was only possible in old versions of Mac OS Classic, not in Mac OS X.

Still possible on Mac in OSX, much as it was before.  Copy graphic you wish to use. Click on your font file and select "Get info" (command i); click on the folder icon or file icon the appears and paste.
