Apple Lion InD 5.5 odd feature implementation or workaround?

I have recently "UP"graded to a new iMac and Adobe 5.5 suite. For some unexplained reason, features don't work as well as they did on my 7 year old G5 and Adobe suite 4.
Smallcaps does not work and fractions only works partially.  The glyphs are still visible in the "glyph palette" but sometimes won't work from there as well. There may be more issues as well but I have gone back to my old G5 to get some work done.  Anyone else experience this?
