Font Embedding taken to a New Level

Dear Friends,

I have been using font embedding, of necessity, on my website www.bhurgri.com for Arabic script fonts for last 8 years. But now font embedding has really entered a new age. Visit my following test page at

http://bhurgri.com/bhurgri/copy/testfonts4.htm

On Windows use Internet Explorer, Safari 4 or Firefox 3.5 and see font embedding working flawlessly in all of them.

Now check this same page in Macintosh and there too, although I have used different fonts for embedding, you can see it working flawlessly. (Use Safari or Firefox 3).

I have tested Naskh and Nastaleeq style Arabic script fonts in Windows and when the same page is accessed in Macintosh, Naskh fonts are used for display but again these are not resident on user's OS.

Any feedback and discussion is welcome.

It's real cool what you did on your site, but the newer version you used on http://bhurgri.com/bhurgri/copy/testfonts4.htm seems a bit heavy. Compare the older version with the new one, text selecting on the first one is normal but on the newer version it lags.

I like what you have done with the font embedding. I have to say I am a bit of a newbie in terms of font embedding, but I have one of my websites that I have been looking for a way to embed a nonstandard font on. I have experimented a bit with sIFR but struggled a bit with it. Thanks for the info and the example - I think this might let me do what I want to do with my website.
