I included these both NEW unicod codes
Devanagari letter ZHA (U 0979)
Devanagari letter heavyYA (U 097A)
into my Devanagari OpenType Font and all the necessary derivates.
Testing it with the VOLT Proofing Tool everything seemed to be o.k.
But trying to use the Font in Word XP nothing is displayed correctly.
So I guess this may be due to an not yet updated usp10.dll.
I have version 1.626.6001.18000 installed.
Does anybody know which version has to be used to get my above described displaing problems to be solved.
Is it usp10.dll version 1.626.7100.0?

Unfortunately Unicode 5.2 is not currently supported by Uniscribe - since Unicode 5.2 has not yet been released. This means that the most current version of Uniscribe that will ship with Windows 7 will not support these additions to the Devanagari block. We hope to be able to add support for these code points in the future.

Thank you.
I'd suggest to include
the following glyphs which are no accepted in Unicode, too:
093A.          DEVANAGARI VOWEL SIGN OE
093B           DEVANAGARI VOWEL SIGN OOE     2009-Nov-03 Accepted 2009-Oct-30

094F          DEVANAGARI VOWEL SIGN AW     2009-Nov-03 Accepted 2009-Oct-30

0956          DEVANAGARI VOWEL SIGN UE
0957          DEVANAGARI VOWEL SIGN UUE     2009-Nov-03 Accepted 2009-Oct-30

0973         DEVANAGARI LETTER OE
0974         DEVANAGARI LETTER OOE
0975         DEVANAGARI LETTER AW
0976         DEVANAGARI LETTER UE
0977         DEVANAGARI LETTER UUE         2009-Nov-03 Accepted 2009-Oct-30
Please have a look at the attachd PDF file.

Are you sure these have made it through the UTC and not just WG2? Anyway, new allocations are not set until the next version of Unicode (6.0, next fall) is published. It is definitely not advisable to support these characters until they are not only approved, but are actually published and have permanent code points.

I experienced too that non of the Avestan glyphs in UnicodeCard "Avestan" (U+ 10B00 ff.) can be displayed in Microsofts Office XP.
Have I to wait until Windows 8 is publshed?

I'm not sure what the problem is, but support for non-BMP (>U+FFFF) is sometimes spotty. I would check out the Office XP help forum to figure out whether it's a font problem or whether your version doesn't support SMP (U+10000...1FFFF) or needs help.

BabelMap

There is a bug in Office XP.
it only is able to display Unocode Code Point up to U+FFFF.
Not so the "editor".
It is able to disay Unicode Code Point bigger than U+FFFF, too; i.e. for example U+10B00 etc.

I tried to make a keyboard layout using Keyboard Layout Creator.
What does this error message mean?

Error 2020 (..\.\tmpkbdAvest.txt, line 59):
VK_OEM_PLUS (bb) found at scancode 1b and 0d.

Even if next Unicode version is very close to approval, we do not add support of new characters unless actual Unicode release. Unicode 5.2 had been released in October 2009, several months after latest Uniscribe release with Windows 7.

As much as I want to, we can not promise any schedule for releasing versions of Uniscribe with updated Unicode support.

Thanks,
Sergey

TAMIL LETTER SHA is contained in the Unicode standard at least since 2008 but still not supported by Windows 7!

Tamil akshara Sha is fully supported in Windows XP; so I think it is in Windows 7, too.
