Author Topic: Punjabi font not working in Word 2007  (Read 4420 times)

I am having some problems getting a Punjabi font to work in Word 2007 (whether on Xp or Vista). The font does work properly in Word 2003 (whether on Xp or Vista).

I start in Fontlab 4.6 for the font production, and the Unicode encoding includes the Gurmukhi section. I am using the latest version of Volt on Windows Vista.

In volt, if I set the Script for "guru" or "gur2", and the language for "default" or "PAN ", the result is the same for all four combinations. I am also using the regular Indic language features (abvm abvs blwm haln nukt, etc.).

Then, in Word 2007, the OpenType features are not operating. Obviously this can be done, because the Shruti font works just fine.

I have developed Devanagari and Gujarati fonts that work in Word 2007, so I am a bit perplexed that the Punjabi is not working.

I am probably missing something simple here, but any help the forum can give will be greatly appreciated.

As currently implemented, Word 2007 expects Gurmukhi fonts to have a particular set of features in order to function correctly. The Open Type layout should have the following features:

abvm
abvs
blwf
blwm
blws
haln
nukt
pstf
