Hi, I am developing a nastaliq font, which requires two individual spaces: one for arabic script, other for latin. So questions is, how do I do it in ms volt? I have already tried substituting space -> arabic_space and placed it in ccmp. This solution works fine for MS products, but not for adobe cs5 me.
Any alternatives? Also tried kerning space, but that is not the good solution... Smiley

Have you tried to put the feature in calt instead?
And set a group with all arabic letters as context after?

Still it sounds strange to me to use different spaces for latin and arabic?
Have you considered adjusting the metrics of your arabic letters instead?

The correct way to do this is to put the appropriate variant space glyph in the <locl> Localised Forms feature for the individual script and language systems. So under the <arab> script language tags you would have a space -> space.arab (that is better naming than 'arabic_space'; [http://www.adobe.com/devnet/opentype/archives/glyph.html]see Adobe's glyph naming conventions[/http://www.adobe.com/devnet/opentype/archives/glyph.html]), associated with the <locl> feature. Then, in InDesign ME you should be able to apply a language selection to text, and this substitution should occur.

However, note that the way in which individual applications handle the word space varies, and you may find some situations in which substitutions involving the word space do not work.
