I hope somebody can help me.
If I open the glyph window for any letter of the typeface I am currently working on, it shows the outlines of one letter in red lines in the background (In my case it's the letter m, See picture below).
I can't get rid of these outlines, I was looking for some option like "global mask" like in FontLab, but couldn't find anything.

You are correct. This is exactly the global mask feature. Try Cmd+Shift+M and Cmd+Shift+K shortcuts to create and clear it.
