What is the character range for a single font in bit fonter? Or how many characters can a single font contain?

This depends on the font format.
BitFonter Binary Font (.bfb) and BDF format fonts may contain virtually any number of glyphs. Others usually have maximum of 256 glyphs.
See pp 205-211 of the Manual for BF/Win or pp 201-208 of the Manual for BF/Mac.
