I've read on other forums that version 5.0.4 fails miserably on Windows Vista x64 editions. Is this true? If so, is it possible to downgrade to another version (5.0.2 is mentioned frequently) that works better?

Edit: I've just installed the demo version, and while it seems to install correctly, I'm unable to open any truetype font. I get the following error message:

Studio5
The parameter is incorrect.

After this, a blank font window is displayed with the title Font. I can save this as a FontLab file, then reopen it and see the first 20 glyphs the demo has saved.

P.S. -- Whatever horrible JavaScript this forum is using for editing posts is causing about 100% CPU usage on every web browser I've tried.

Little trick for Vista 64 bit...

Right click the Studio5.exe, click the Compability tab, check the Compability Mod and choice the Windows XP (Service Pack 2) mod.
Apply and close.

Start the Studio5.exe, open font. That's all.

Have a nice day Fontlab Support!!!

Just bought and registered the full version -- this trick worked for me too. Thanks!
