I'm really tearing my hair out with this.. I've made a font based on a single line, i convert that to an expanded stroke with rounded ends.. I've imported those vectors into both Fontlab and Fontographer. Both programs distort the character shape. Especially noticeable on the rounded ends. Fontographer is a bit harder to see the distortion due to its limited zoom, you need generate the font to see those details.. but at least it is more accurate than Fontlab. I've seriously tried importing as EPS and copy pasting from both Illustrator and Freehand.. I don't understand why these applications need to alter the curves. Is there a way to prevent this happening?

If i were only using the font for smaller applications it would be fine. However, i need to use this font in a massive headline application also..

You have exactly the same problem than me (and I lost all my hairs to) I did a font on a single line to...  with rond end. I try to find a solution, I don't realy whant to draw it again directly in Fontlab.
But I think the thing is to import the stroke without thickness and make parallel outlines (in tools menu/outlines/make parallel path), and after that make some corections about the rounded end. I know we can import our font on a single line in Fontlab but I still trying to find how. It can be a solution. If you find how tell me please. But I'm sure I will find how this week and I will give you a update about this.

Keep in touch.

I found a solution to import your glyphs. I hope it will work for you.

In Illustrator copy/paste a glyph in a new document window, leave it in stroke. Save as in : illustrator EPS/ Illustrator 8.
In Fontlab, when you are on a glyph window, Glyph/import from eps. After select your imported glyph, tools/outlines/make parallel path. Chose the right seating for you and your curves will be clean. The thing is, you will have to redo the round ended. Do one and copy/paste on every glyps.

I hope it will be allright.
