How do we access kerning pairs in an OpenType font using Fontographer 5? Where is the kerning information stored, and how can it be viewed and edited?

Can't find it in the manual or in this forum.

I seem to have stumbled across the answer to my own question (in case anybody is interested).

You open the Metrics Window (command-K) and in the "Text" field type in the pair you want to kern. If the font has a value assigned for the pair, it is shown in the "Kerning" field at bottom for the second glyph; if not, it is zero; and in either case you type in the new value you want.

If this is wrong, perhaps someone could correct it.

You are quite correct but if kerning was stored as a 'kern' feature with kerning classes in OTF Fontographer expands the feature into the plain list of kerning pairs. This may give you thousands of kerning pairs. Fontographer won't compact them back into class kerning feature automatically on export.

Does this mean that the kern-pair edits will not be included in a revised font made by using "Generate Font" in the File menu?

No, this means kerning pairs will take much more place in the revised font.
