I just bought version 5 (great improvement, thanks by the way) and wanted to make highly detailed font this time. Traced bitmaps (old & dirty type stamps) with ScanFont into TypeTool (used that before, since FG 4 had so many problems here and there). Later opened it with FG 5 for metrics, kerning tables and removing overlaps (far better here).
The generated font contains all glyphs (checked again with FG), but characters are not showing up in Text Applications. Tried TTF, Suitcase and OTF - all the same & FG also hangs from time to time. Is there a limit concerning datasize or amount of points when generating a font? And what would be the limits?
My font was absolutely giant with 13MB workfile and 3MB font file. Started again with much looser tracing. Works better and generates flawlessly font files, but i am not so satisfied with the glyph result...
Thanks for any advice.

By the way - stupid question: As i bought Fontographer 4 & 5, ScanFont and TypeTool - is there a way to get a discount on FogLamp (to open fog in TypeTool)?

You don't need FogLamp at all. Just choose in FG File/Export/Fontlab font file and you have VFB file to open in TTool.
