Can Fontographer import JPGs and/or iPhone native image format?
If so, what precautions must I take to ensure that the graphics do not come in too large or too small (necessitating re-sizing)?

Can Fontographer import JPGs and/or iPhone native image format?

No. EPS files only. But you can copy-paste any bitmap image through the Clipboard onto the template layer.
