I'm creating a font based on the letters created for a title treament. Just doing the uppercase letters and punctuation. I used the Metrics window and did a lot of work on kerning pairs. When I generate the font (truetype) and use it in Quark, the kerning pairs information doesn't seem to be included in the font -- I still have to manually kern together the letters 'A' and 'T' for example, while they look fine together in Fontograpgher's metrics window.

Fontographer 4 / Mac OS X 10.4.11

Any help is appreciated thanks!

This is a bug in Mac TrueType export. FOG 4.7.3 builds bad kerning which doesn't work.
Try to export to Win TTF instead.

Alex, Thank you for posting this. I didn't realize this was a Fontographer problem and not MY problem until I read your post. (See below) Now I know how to get around it. -JMeyers

Metric info disappearing from Fontographer to Font Manager
« on: Today at 13:30:31 »

I am a new user of Fontographer 4.7...I have never made a font before so please bear with me if this question seems parochial.

I have adjusted my font's metrics in the Metrics Window and saved my .fog file, but the information gets lost when I "Generate Font Files" and the (TrueType) suitcase file is created. My letters do not have any spacing or kerning when I open the suitcase file within a Font Manager (LinoType FontExplorer X). Do I need to export the metrics separately somehow?

I am baffled by this and I am not sure how to proceed.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Michael,
I believe so since you haven't reported this as a bug.  Wink
