Fontographer 5.1.0 Mac OX 10.7

« on: 2011-08-03, 06:47:07 »

I have no experience in making or editing fonts but I have been frustrated for a long time, not being able to find the right font to create teaching materials easily. I did some Googling and it seems like Fontographer would be the perfect program to help me out. I though I could justify the cost because of all the time it would save me in the future. I downloaded the demo version and started to make some changes to a ttf file that is close to what I want and it worked ok so I bought Fontographer 5.1.0 from the Mac app store.

Now, the full version won't open ttf files. Not only the one I want to edit, but other ttf files already on my computer. I have attached the full (13 page!) problem report that appears when the program crashes every time I try to open a ttf file. I would really appreciate some help on this issue because at the moment I can not use the program at all Sad

You have to ask for support from Fontlab: http://www.fontlab.com/support/problem/

Wondering what requirements you are needing?

I want a font in the style that kids learn to write English here in Japan with four ruled lines and numbers and arrows to show how to write each letter correctly. Actually three fonts - one with solid letters, one with dotted lines, and another with dotted lines and no arrows or numbers. Unlike some other fonts I have tried to use previously, the solid letters and dotted letters need to be the same height so they will work on the same lines together if necessary. I also need to be able to extend the lines to give space to practice writing. I bought a set of fonts but some of the numbers and arrows are not right and I want to fix them so I can make worksheets to use in my classes.
