Hi,
I'm new to FontLab Studio and vector font making too. I just want to make font for myself (I'm programmer).
The reason I'm creating my own font is that Mac OS X doesn't seem to use hints at all so all vector fonts are effectively blurred. I also have my own bitmap font that looks good on displays with lower resolution (like my 24" Dell LCD display) but not with higher resolution ones (like MacBook pro). So I have decided to create something in-between: font that looks hinted even when hinting is ignored. I'm going to use it with only one pixel size: 17.

Basically my question is this:
How do I force outline to fit into pixel grid? Lets say I want my font to be fixed size and only look good when rasterized to 17 pixel height bitmaps. I know that there is TrueType Options with hinting tools. Is there any way to make main glyph outline to match that "hinting outline" suggested by FontLab?

I have attached three screenshots to make my question clearer.
The one with "xcode" window is how Courier New is rendered using Mac OS X font rasterizer.
The other is with Eddie text editor and the same font of the same size. I want to make my font to look like that. The problem is that Eddie probably uses FreeType rasterizer which is not available for xcode.
The third screenshot contains FontLab glyph window with TrueType Options. I want to push main outline to match that gray outline around "pixels" Smiley

Thank you.

Why do you want to fit an outline into the grid? Why not make a pixelfont for a specific PPM (I'd recommend 20, not 17) right away? You might want to look into Gustavo Ferreira's pixelbrush tool.
