I'm renaming an OpenType PS font and am getting an error upon generation regarding OS/2 typoascenders and typodescenders not adding up properly. There doesn't seem to be any way to fix this. Some of the letters in the Font window have little red dots under them, and some have an H as well. I can't find anything about this in the user guide, and I can't find any way to get rid of these marks. I've run "Set PS Direction" and fixed everything that the FontAudit said needed fixing, but I'm still seeing the little red dots.

Hello,
The warning says that the distance from typodescender to typoascender should equal the upm size of the font. It is realy just a warning and no error.

The red dot indicates that this glyph is the key glyph of a (kerning) class.

The H-icon indicates that there is an hint replacement programm for this glyph. The background of the H-icon is green if the hint replacement programm is OK and red if not.

All in all, there are no serious problems with your font ;-)

Best

A red H means that the hinting replacement program is messed up, but, what does it mean if there is no red or green mark, and it is just blank, even though it has been auto-hinted?

Hello,

The H-icon indicates that there is an hint replacement programm for this glyph. A hint replacement programm is only necessary for overlapping hints. The H-icon does not indicate hints.
