I recently purchased all but set 2 of the MacFonts series. Sets 3 and 4 are already PostScript OpenType. The original series are Mac OS 9 style suitcase TrueType fonts, which I want to convert to PS OpenType. When I try to translate these fonts in FontLab Studio 5 (or any font of the same type), rather than translating, each typeface opens a big blank gray box in the interface. I can open then in the interface the normal way and then save as PS OT, but I have no desire to do over a thousand fonts this way. Why won't the automation work?

Edit: I downloaded the TransType Pro demo to see what would happen with that. It had no trouble translating the same fonts. I shouldn't have to purchase that software though when I already have your top of the line product which should be able to do the same thing.

The question is not clear enough. Did you mean the Action Set command in the Tools menu?

Hello Alex,

Yes, when using an Action set to do them all at once. I have no trouble using this same method for Type 1, TrueType (non suitcase type with a .ttf extension), or other fonts. Just Mac OS 9 (and earlier) suitcase TrueType fonts cause the problem.

All preferences are set according to the manual for opening TrueType and saving PS OpenType.

Any suggestions? Still testing on your end?

Just another one bug. The code from Windows was ported to Mac and there was nothing about suitcases.
We will have to live with this until the next version release.  Sad

Drat! Well, I'm in no hurry to convert them, so I'll wait until version 6, which another thread notes should be available this year. Thanks!
