How about it, FontLab? This is a serious request. Post a patch that does away with the artificial limit of 6,400 glyphs.
I'm really stuck with this. I draw in Fontographer, but I need to process my fonts in FontLab Studio because of the Unicode table support that neither Fontographer nor TypeTool have. So... I'm not giving you $99 for TypeTool, because it won't handle Everson Mono... And I'm certainly not able to justify $1999 for Asia Font Studio... but I would pay for a FontLab Studio upgrade that did nothing else but got rid of this artificial limit. Unless you're making money hand over fist on Asia Font Studio...
Note again that it was possible for my friend to hack the Windows version of FontLab Studio to get rid of the limit. That doesn't help me since I use a Mac. So here I am, Ted and Adam. Shall I beg?

Adam, Ted, I'm really sorry, but this is pissing me off.
In September 2008 I posed this question, and Alex Petrov said only "This is a marketing question. Removing the limit will stop the AFS project."
Guess what? I did not buy AFS over these past two years. And I did not buy AFS, which as far as I can tell is FontLab Studio v4 with the artificial glyph limit removed. Why not? First off I don't want to use v4. Second off, $1999 is way too much money.
So now I have Fontographer, which can generate 20,000 glyphs, but doesn't have the kind of Unicode support I need to avoid post-processing in FontLab Studio. But WHOOPS! If I generate a large font in Fontographer, I can open it in FLS, but I can't save any edits.
Crippled.
I have a "recipe" for hacking the Windows version of FLS 5 to remove the artificial glyph limit. You may note that I have not posted this recipe out of respect for your company and its otherwise-fine products. But I use a Mac, and the hack screws up the checksum, and so does not work.
So I am at your mercy. I've been asking for this for two years.
How about it?

@ Evertype
In the Windows version of FontLab Studio 5.0.4 there is likewise a checksum checker. For a hacker this should not be a hurdle. I assume, its sense is to prevent the user from senseful changes of the GUI.

Apparently begging isn't helping.
Should I try bribery? Perhaps I should send the Russian programmers a bottle of Brian Ború vodka.
It would be courteous for Ted or Adam to give a reply.
I've been asking for this for TWO YEARS.

Maybe you'll have better luck discussing this on the Typophile forum in the build section. I'm not saying that this forum is abandoned but it's pretty rare to get any feedback from anyone who works at Fontlab. Maybe they read your post and are deliberately ignoring it but maybe they've genuinely forgotten about this forum. Either way it's unprofessional, no?
