Fontlab needs a method for locking a glyph so that it cannot be changed. This would be useful when working with lots of characters built from components without having to work around the ones that do not need to change. For example, I like to draw characters like Uogonek and tbar before doing most of my combining diacriticals, and it would be helpful to lock those special characters so I do not accidentally change them when I am generating and tweaking dozens of other composite glyphs at once.

As a workaround I propose to swap the outlines of those glyphs, that you don’t want to change, with their empty (!) mask layers and lock the mask layer. And later you swap the layers the other way around.
