Full Unicode/OS input method support in Preview panel

I am currently working on a Balinese typeface with lots of OT substitutions. When using the preview panel, I need to revert to the /uniXXXX workaround since typing the text with the appropriate keyboard layout or even pasting Unicode text will not work.

So, text input should be Unicode aware and support the current OS input method.
