The “Copy Outline to Mask” function does not copy components to the mask. It would be very helpful if it did. It can be hard to track changes across multiple glyphs when changing the position of a glyph that is a flipped component in other glyphs, such as quotes and guillemets. But if components could be copied (as outlines) to the mask layer it would be much keep track of the changes that occur.

In case of the Windows version of FontLab it does.

Maybe he meant to type "does not copy components to the mask". The Mac version definitely copies outlines to the mask.

Mark is correct, I meant that it does not copy components. Sorry about that.
