Build versioning into the new naming system

When you create the new family-friendly naming system please incorporate versioning as well. What I want is a single font or control file for a family that allows me to tweak names for an entire family, automatically creating versions with an incremented number, sort of a combination of FDK naming and the increment and save feature in AfterEffects.
