The way that the font window, when in names mode, arranges glyphs by encoding is very convenient if I have actually determined the encoding of a font. It is not so conventient when I am developing a font and need to create multiple versions of a character as individual glyphs (x.1, x.2, x.3, etc.) which may or may not be used in the final font. In that case the unencoded glyphs just pile up at the bottom of the list, or I can switch to index mode and constantly rearrange them.
It would be helpful if there were a glyph window mode that automatically places glyphs with suffixes in alphabetical order after the original. When disabled all of the unencoded glyphs would go to the end of the list for easy deletion.
