When I try to generate a font, a bunch of the characters are missing, or corresponding with the wrong letters.  "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog" comes out like this:

"Qfc osgbi apmul dmv hsknq mtcp rfc j&xw _me"
(The underscore was a blank.)

I tried viewing the glyphs in Unicode mode and a few indexes were missing, so I fixed them.  That didn't change anything.  I tried creating a new VFB file, moving a few of the glyphs into it, and testing the generated TrueType font...and, somehow, it came out EXACTLY the same as my other generated fonts!  I mean, it used all the same characters even though I did not paste most of them into the new font.  It was so bizarre!  I also reached the end of my rope after this because it seemed like the program was doing something impossible just to mess with my head. Smiley

Why is this happening?  What can I do to fix this and ensure the glyphs go with the right keys?  Thanks for your help!

Check to see which keyboard mapping you are using.  You may have inadvertently switched to a different language.

Guess that wasn't the issue.  The program wasn't applying any of my changes when generating the font.  This is why it was using all of my characters in a font where I only added two or three of them.  I confirmed this when I tried changing the name of the font and it didn't change after I generated the font.  I tried random things.  Finally, I was able to get the font to work and FontLab to use my changes by...generating and saving the file by renaming a previously existing, fully functional TrueType file.  Now...can anyone explain *why* this solved the problem?  'Cause I'm still very confused!

I assume you're making sure to clear the Font Caches after making changes to a font.
Linotype Font Explorer has a tool to do this.
