Dear Fontlab Forum,

I hope this is in the right place on the forum!

I am very fresh to FontLab, but have jumped in at the deep end by designing a display font from scratch.

I am using FontLab 5.0.2 on a Mac running OS X 10.5.7 and I have designed my font in illustrator and have been copy and pasting each Glyph into FontLab individually.

I have figured out my kerning classes and I am happy with the results in apps. such as Indesign and Illustrator and at the moment i am just using FontLabs auto generated hinting.

However, my new font displays in my version of the Mac app Font Book window with seemingly none of my kerning classes recognised, it seems to recognize some from different classes but leaving most of the alphabet of the looking really unprofessional and unkerned, why could this be?

Regards,
James

Doesn't answer the Font Book problem but here's a tip (Better late than never): Don't paste the glyphs from Illustrator one by one, paste the whole block at once or as strings of glyphs, then separate them in FontLab. You avoid having to adjust each glyph to the baseline and copying / pasting back and forth from Illustrator. If you have each glyph on a separate doc in Illus. then make a new doc with one huge page that will hold them all or at least hold a string of them.
