I have created a ttf format font for use in Mac OS X Leopard (latest version), and seem to be having a strange problem with fonts generated by AFS. Simply put, some programs recognize my font, and others don't. And I can't figure out why.
Since the font I'm using is for in-house purposes and was based on another Asian language font, to which I added private use characters, I went through "Font Info" and changed all occurrences of the name to the new font. However, although some programs like PopChar and the basic CMD-T on Mac OS X recognized the font instantly, other applications like Word and 4D do not. I suspect these latter programs are Carbon-based since they have the "old-fashioned" clumsy approach to displaying font lists.
Complicating the mystery is the fact that older incarnations of my homemade font can be read by Word and 4th Dimension. The problem is when I try to update them.
What is the problem here?
