Have you considered adding italics to SBL Hebrew font? I am not sure it makes sense to have a Hebrew font with italics, but I sometimes have a text with mixed English and Hebrew fonts, where the English is in italics, and Hebrew straight words looks somehow awkward there.

BTW, Mellel does not use "fake" italics, which is indeed a desirable option, but leaves me without the option of seeing how it would look like.

Thanks for any thoughts about this.

There are no current plans for adding italics for SBL Hebrew, but a bold weight is being discussed.

Italic Hebrew fonts are used in Israel, but they are a recent innovation: there is still some debate about in which direction they should slant. Interestingly, Hebrew letters slanted to both right and left can also be found in mediaeval palaeography.
