One small practical issue of concern. It seems that to download SBL
Hebrew it is necessary to download a single file of 2.4 MB. Most of this
is in two large manuals for the keyboard drivers and in the mark
sequences document; the font and its own manual account for only 350 KB
when zipped, the font alone to a mere 61 KB.

I represent a large project researching Hebrew
(http://www.ktbh-team.org/), with researchers scattered across the
world, many in places where Internet access is poor. I would like to
recommend SBL Hebrew for use in the project. But for such people
downloading a 2.4 MB file is very difficult, although 350 KB would be
just feasible. These people already have adequate keyboard support, and
so would struggle to download the rest in vain.

Would it be possible to offer as an alternative separate downloads of
the font plus manual, each keyboard separately with its manual, and the
mark sequences document? That would keep each download to a manageable size.

Do the conditions permit me to redistribute the font and manual, without
the rest of the package, to project researchers through the project's
private secure website? Or by e-mail?

PS Is there a way to post to the SBLHebrew message board rather than to
the general SBLFonts message board?

This is a good idea, Peter. My original intent was that users would not get the very large mark sequences document as part of the basic download, but could get it at the SBL website if they needed to check possible errors in their own system/application setup against expected behaviour.

I think SBL were concerned that users might download only part of the available files and miss something they needed like the keyboard drivers. I agree that it should at least be an option to get just the font and manual, and probably good to also make the keyboard drivers available by themselves.
