Hello!

I have to convert an academic article, including Hebrew font (Mac Accordance Yehudit font), written in Mac Word document, to Windows PC document. I tried this job already but Hebrew letters were broken.

How can I convert a Mac docement including Hebrew font to PC document without breaking Hebrew font?

Please help me! Urgent!

Sorry for the late response.

Word on Windows uses Unicode text encoding with automatic right-to-left layout support. Word on the Mac, unfortunately, does not, which means that any Hebrew text created in Mac Word is using a non-standard text encoding and, quite likely, will end up with reversed text on the Windows side. You are going to need a conversion process to switch from whatever encoding the Mac Accordance Yehudit font uses to Unicode Hebrew text. This kind of conversion can be very difficult, I'm afraid, especially if the text direction is different (some Hebrew hack encodings basically involve entering text backwards).

Another option:

If you have Accordance, you may be able to pass the text from Mac Word through Accordance and export as Unicode text. See this webpage for more information:

John;
No quite likely about it - it will Sad
The solution is to use Mellel from a couple of brothers is Tel Aviv.  >  Also available from Davka.Com in a box.  Mellel uses the open type
standard, instead of Apple's ATT type, so is fully compatible with all
forms of unicode and does all the scripts I've ever thrown at it.  It
also cost a lot less than M$ while supporting import/export to word
file format Smiley

Using Mellel certainly makes a lot of sense if one is working on the Mac. There is also the OpenOffice Writer program, a port of which is now available for the Mac, and which is free. Both these programs support Unicode text encoding and OpenType Layout.

But as I understood the original question, our colleague has a document that has already been created using the custom encoded  Accordance Yehudit font, so the issue is how to get that document into a format that can be used by any of the above Unicode programs.

Perhaps a Pearl script would do the trick.  It might take some time to write so that it comes out correctly so its practicality depends on how much is to be converted.
