Missing fonts

I have Polish Windows xp installed, with Word editor I can see all non English alphabets of all *.ttf installed on the system. The problem is the fonts which contain non English letters cannot be seen in the menu of fonts for the Tooltip  (Proprties, view, advanced, element, Tooltips)?  Anyone can explain and help me ?
