Dear Judy et al.,
I finally converted to Coptic and am having a problem finding a keyboard and font. The Tavultesoft Polytonic board is decidedly unacceptable.  It gives an f (Ï¥) that is too high without spine stretching below the line.  What's your solution?

I use the Logos Coptic keyboard, which can be downloaded from their website
for free (http://www.logos.com/support/lbs/fonts/CopticKeyboard) - Windows
only and not available for Vista, so if have a computer that comes with
Vista as the default operating system you have to downgrade to XP, which is
somewhat painful in the short term.   I don't like the mapping on the Coptic
keyboard - it requires some unhelpful contortions for relatively common
Coptic characters, but it's the best around at the moment. Logos is looking
at providing a more user-friendly layout.

I use New Athena Unicode as my Coptic font.   Unfortunately, it doesn't seem
to be available any more from GreekKeys, where I got it.  Don't have time to
keep searching at the moment.

Thanks, Judy!

Wouldn't it be simpler just to use the English keyboard with the CS Copto Manuscript font that's standard to Windows?

Depends on what you're doing.  CS Copto Manuscript is not a Unicode font, so
if you're hoping to produce text for publication or to share with people not
running Windows, you need something else.  CS Copto Manuscript is also not
standard with older versions of Windows - I had to download and install it
myself when I first started learning Coptic several years ago.

I found a font called MPH 28 Damase that solves all the problems but one: it doesn't let me overline the abbreviation of "David": DAD.

MPH 2B Damase is a Unicode font with a nice Roman font attached (I don't
like the New Athena Roman font - it's uppercase is too ornate), but you're
right, the supralinear strokes don't work.
