The CVTs 20-27 are listed as having different functions to those in the program, in the following article:
'From typeface to font file' on the MS developer web site.
The article lists them as for values relating to the 'a' and 'o' ordinals.
Whilst in the program they are listed for 'Italic run' or 'italic rise' values.
Is the article out of date?
[Beat Stamm] Yes and no, yes in that the font may not have been done with the very latest set of templates, and no, it doesn't matter what numbers are used for the cvt (except for the reserved numbers 40 through 64).

Many CVTs seem to have another following it with the same function.
For example, are CVTs 69 and 71, additional values to CVTs 68 and 70?
[Beat Stamm] Yes. I'll assume the next question is, why is this? It's merely a suggestion on how to use cvts in a font with contrast (thick vs. thin strokes). At low res there is no "resolution" to show this difference, hence the need to make them the same, while at high res there is, which is what separate cvts are for.

What are the meanings to the terms in the CVT:
Black?
White?
Grey?
[Beat Stamm] See also http://www.microsoft.com/typography/tt/ttf_spec/ttch05.doc, determining distances. Black distances are distances that are entirely within the glyph, such as stroke weights. White distances are entirely outside the glyph, such as counterform widths. Grey distances are for cases which are part black, part white, such as black-body-widths.

What are the functions for CVTs 94, 95, and 96?
[Beat Stamm] Which ever basic dimensions of LC serifs you want to use them for.

I am using the Windows version of VTT.
My OS is Win 98.
Why does the 'Find' function in 'Help' not work?
[Beat Stamm] You may be missing a file, or it's a known problem.
