A user reported that on his Windows 98 machine VTT 4.21 was crashing after two hours of use. I checked with Beat (VTT's developer), and his tests didn't reveal the problem. The user chose to run the Mac OS version of VTT. If anyone else is experiencing similar problems please get in touch with me simonda@microsoft.com with a repro scenario and we will investigate further.

As noted a user reported that on his Windows 98 machine VTT 4.21 was crashing after two hours of use. Beat Stamm managed to do some tests on a Windows 98 machine here in the office, and although he discovered a minor memory issue (which will be fixed in the next update) there was no 'memory leak' present that would account for the tool crashing after a few hours intensive work.

We are happy with the tools performance and stability on all supported Windows platforms. However, it is worth noting that Beat develops and uses the tool on Windows 2000 and most professional users run the tool on Windows 2000 or Windows NT 4.

We've received one additional crash report from a user running VTT on Windows 98. Unlike the first user's report this one contains a clear repro scenario which we can follow to help trace the problem. The user did report that the crash will not-reproduce in Windows 2000.

We will keep you posted.
