Hi Si

 

looking at the 'File Menu'  setting preferences...

- there is no 'Preferences' tab

( it is mentioned in vtt.hlp but isn't there)

From Beat...

"vtt.hlp" refers to the original Mac version, in which the "File" menu indeed has a "Preferences" item. For the Windows version, choose "Tools" "Options..." If you prefer, you can switch the Windows version to use the Mac version's menus: To do so, choose "Tools" "Options..." "Appearance", then select "Old high contrast style" (as opposed to "New 3D style").
