I can't view sbits in either Mac or Windows VTT 4.2.1.  Is this
a bug in the program, or something wrong with the fonts?  If the
latter, what should I be looking out for?

Thanks,

Tom

From Beat...

I may need more specifics. I've tried it on a (Japanese) font for which the font properties extension tool (http://www.microsoft.com/typography/property/property.htm) has reported the presence of embedded bitmaps, and VTT reported "BITMAP" at a number of ppem sizes.

With the font property extension tool installed, right-click the font, select "Properties," select the "Features" tab, and under "Standard Features" look for the wording "This font includes embedded bitmaps."

In VTT's Display options, select "Pixels" and "Display sbit," and unselect "Gray scale," unless you're expecting a gray scale bitmap. The latest rasterizer supports gray scale bitmaps, but if a font doesn't have a gray scaled bitmap, VTT won't say "BITMAP."

Hope this helps

Beat

Thanks for hte reply...

The font has 11 strikes (sizes 12 - 22).  I checked Pixels and
sbits.  Still, no bitmaps show up in the view.

Regards,

Tom

Tom was unable to post a reply to the board so contacted me off-list. It seems to be working fine for him now.

Cheers, Si
