Hello.
I want to add two new glyphs to existing fonts without removing their original hinting. But I cannot keep the new glyphs' on screen appearance consistent with the existing ones (for example, their heights are different at same sizes). In control program window VTT displays control values without attributes. So I don't know which control value I have to use. What can I do to keep new glyphs' on screen appearance as same as the similar existing glyphs? Any help will be appreciated greatly.

Hi turciniak

If you need to add glyphs from font1 to font2,  it is alway best that both that fonts have the original VTT source data, and have similar CVT's. If either of these fonts do not have this original data, then VTT is probably not the best tool for the job.

If the fonts CVT's differ then chances are you will not be able to achieve the same look for the added glyphs that they had in their original font without re-doing some of the instructions.

From Beat...

It appears that you are trying to add the glyphs to a font which has been stripped of its textual hinting information. This would usually happen during Tools => Ship Font... After Ship Font... e.g. the attributes in the control program are no longer there, and in general it will be next to impossible to add any hints. It is a bit like trying to add C code to a program for which you only have the executables (binaries).
To get this done, pretty much the only way I could think of is to locate the version of the font that still has the textual hints, assuming the font was originally hinted using VTT.

Hope this helps
