Dear friends,
I have been given a FontValidator report in order to fix those things that appear as errors in the report.
I've tried to find out / interpret the message that comes out from FontValidator but it's really painful (at least for me).
For instance, I have lots of E1804 errors under the LTSH table:
[The LTSH yPel value doesn't mach the calculated value glyph# = 31, value = 1, calculated value = 22], and a lot like this.
Under the OS/2 table there are two more errors:
[E2117  A reserved bit is set in a ulUnicodeRange field  Range
  • was undefined. All bits must be 0].
Under VDMX table there are a lot of errors, too:
[E2500  The VDMX data doesn't mach the data calculated by the rasterizer  group
  • , entry[19], yPelHeight=27, yMin, yMax= -7,26, calculated yMin, yMax = -6,26]

I'll really appreciated any help from you.
Best,

Andreu

You need to recalculate the 'LTSH and 'VDMX' tables. Basically those messages are saying that the rasterizer is returning different results than are stored in the font's tables.

I don't know of any Mac-based tools that can recalculate those tools correctly, since doing so requires information from the Windows scaler. Under Windows you can use Microsoft's 'cachett' tool (free download from the Typography site) to recalculate those tables correctly.

As for the 'ulUnicodeRange' field; you will need to edit the 'OS/2' table with some kind of OpenType table editor. That may be harder to come by (without getting a tool that also changes other stuff that you don't necessarily want to change).
