Error in LangSys table not detected

The OT 1.4 spec says, in the Language System table (LangSys table, described here), that the array of Feature indices is supposed to exclude the required feature. It would be good if Font Validator generated a Warning if the list included the required feature.

 

(The current version of Doulos SIL violates this requirement in both GPOS and GSUB, if you want a font to test with.)

I'll put this on the list of things to do.

 

Having a "required" feature in the font is never a good thing if you are considering performance. A required feature will be processed each time another feature is performed.
