I have had to re-install everything in my XP Pro
system, and find a problem now with FOG 4. I have re-installed it from the CD,
but when I try to run it I get the message

"Could not intialize the program, because
there is not enough memory available to run. Code = -30202".

Of course there is enough memory, 1Gb in fact, so
what could be the problem ?

It had been running before without any
problem.

The workaround is described on this page:

Thanks. I have tried the first of the suggestions
given there, and it has cured the immediate problem.

Now the problem is that FOG fails to remember
the serial number that I type in. It seems I will have to type it in each time !
Do you have any idea where this is recorded ? Somewhere in the registry, I
guess.

I found that page referenced all over the web, but the page no longer exists.  Can you post the actual solutions?
Surely someone has encountered and fixed this problem before.  I'm guessing that the code was written assuming a certain maximum possible amount of memory, and now memory can exceed that.
Probably a case of a variable not being wide enough (perhaps a WORD where they should have used a DWORD).
Seems to be something that could be fixed by tweaking the right command.  Has anyone found a solution (aside from running it in a virtual machine)?

If I recall correctly, you have to change your virtual memory to less than 512MB. Right-Click on My Computer / Properties / Advanced / Performance-Settings / Advanced / Virtual Memory / Change /  [RECORD YOUR CURRENT SETTINGS SO YOU CAN RESET IT LATER] Set both initial and max to 499MB (just to be on the safe side) and OK out.

You MAY have to reboot.

Your system performance may degrade, but when you close FOG, you can change back.
