Kerning changes display in Quark, but not in Illustrator

I have manually edited kerning pairs in TypeTool 3 and FontLab 5, generated a suitcase, opened it in Suitcase Fusion. None of the changes are reflected in Adobe Illustrator. Illustrator seems to simply ignore any changes to kerning made in the Metrics window. The same font displays the kerning changes in Quark Xpress.

Does anyone know what the problem might be? Is it something in TypeTool or Fontlab or is it Illustartor?
