Fontlab Trailversion won´t open windos-fonts

Hello altogether.

I am new to the field of typo but I need to make a few adjustments to the blackadder font that comes with the windows system. I am willing to bay typetool but before I do so, I’d like to test it. I installed TypeTool and Fontlab, but neither of them would open any existing font. I tried reinstalling and I tried it on another machine, however fruitless. Has anybody an Idea what to do?
