Hi. Can someone tell me if this is a bug on my end or if afdko is doing something weird.

I’m trying to build a font with the style name set to “Regular” but when I run makeotf I get blanks in Name ID 4 and Name ID 17. If put anything other than “s=Regular” it works fine.

I’m running afdko 2.5.

This is a bug in the FDK,  as it should work fine even with unnecessary entries. However, you should specify a style value with a "s=" entry only if you want to specify a style name that is *different* from the standard name.  For you case, you should omit the "s=<style name".

Thanks Read,
I cross posted this on Typophile and got different responses from Ken Lunde and Frank Blokland. I like your answer better though, since the "Regular" exception in the spec seems irrational and inconsistent to me.
